The Interesting group

The Interesting Group was developed at St.Andrews Healthcare, Northampton, by Louise Jeffries (Senior Occupational Therapist).

The group was specifically targeted for those individuals on the self-presentation level and designed to facilitate explorative action to enable development of concept formation.

This work was published as an article in OT News in July 2019.

Sensory seekers

Sessions will be a shorter length of time to ensure engagement from YPs at Self- Presentation level (3). Time and number of steps in an activity can be increased if only YP’s at Passive Participation level are attending.

Sessions will have a mix of activities including:

  • An explorations of sensory tools which explore every aspect of the senses i.e. sight, sound, movement, smell, taste and touch.
  • Self-evaluation sheets which encourage YP to recognise what sensory strategies are helpful or not.
