Cycling to recovery

By Birchall, S

Reports on how OTs can better engage and meet the needs of male clients in an adult acute and intensive care inpatient mental health unit.  Success of using bike maintenance as a therapeutic activity for Self-presentation clients (feedback from clients and the unit’s matron; won awards) has secured funding.

A descriptive short report on the bike maintenance project.

Conclusion: Provided a focus for the unit, inspiring interest, building clients’ confidence, and contributing to a positive, recovery focused culture.  Potential to lead to clients volunteering post discharge and improving social inclusion.
