Changing practice through MoCA.

By Harvey, H & Fuller, K

Short news piece introducing the use of the VdTMoCA within two secure forensic mental health units in Hampshire (UK).  Whilst continuing to use the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO), the VdTMoCA was deemed to positively impact on the way therapists approached clients and presented activities to them.  Group treatments were structured in accordance with the VdTMoCA principles and deemed more effective / successful, resulting in increased engagement rates with treatment, increased staff motivation and improved ability to articulate clinical reasoning within multidisciplinary meetings.  Using both the MOHO and VdTMoCA was felt to provide a valuable and holistic approach.
